WONDERFUL MCM Laying Cat Figurine by Jaroslav Ježek for Royal Dux, Sleek and Vintage Modern Cat Figurine, Collectible Mid Century Figurines
FABULOUS Porcelain Laying Cat figurine by Jaroslav Ježek for Royal Dux from the late 1950s- early 60s.
This is a wonderful MCM figurine of a beautiful stylized sleek cat, one of Jaroslav Jezek more popular designs for Royal Dux Ceramics introduced in 1958.
This lovely figurine is a beautiful example of the Brussels style that Jezek helped to create in the 1950s. Beautiful combination of fluid lines and angles, captures the spirit of the animal despite the abstraction of the design.
The design of the cat gives the impression of engaged curiosity, ready to spring into action. The eyes are defined by negative space as the sculpture is pierced through behind the nose so that the shape of the eye is defined by the edge of the hollow. The lovely pristine white glaze gives a wonderful contrast to the energy of the figurine.
The figurine is fully marked along with the famous pink bisque triangle mark with the impressed D and 'Royal Dux Bohemia', number 553 along with paper labels.
This captivating cat figure stands about 6.5 inches high and is about 7.5 inches in length, and about 2.5 inches wide at widest point.
The condition is gift worthy, no damage. Perfect addition to your collection of Royal Dux or Cat figurines, wonderful to gift a cat lover! We ship internationally and combine shipping.
